Dreams of the Lucid Variety

My nephew HBH is a prolific songwriter, and sometimes musical companion with myself and his Uncle Myles, as the trio MUNCLE. I am sometimes called upon to create art for album covers for HBH, and enjoy his "just run with it" approach to creative collaboration. That combined with his sometimes surreal soundscapes and idiosyncratic lyrics give me a lot of room and material to work with. Within a couple days ideas began to solidify, and I doused found objects, some quickly modified, with a half cup of water for this photo, inspired by the tracks he let me hear.

Initially, HBH gave me the title "Lucid Grave", but I liked his song "Dreamer", so I suggested "Lucid Dreamer". He then offered "Dreams of the Lucid Variety", which I liked a lot. He's a very interesting man and fun collaborative partner. I'd like to make a video for 'Dreamer" in the future- until then, check out a video I made for his song "Halloween":

Viva Cuba's Annual "Chair-itable Auction"

Sons and Daughters of Cuba, Missouri, Art Lovers-

My hand-painted table created for Viva Cuba’s Annual “Chair-itable Auction” is now on display at the People’s Bank of Cuba, Washington Street branch until April 24th, at which time it will be displayed at the Cuba Chamber of Commerce Banquet for an evening of great food, people, and coming together for the benefit of our great city.

From the banquet, my table along with several other hand-painted furniture items will travel to the Highway 19 branch of People’s Bank of Cuba for display and further bidding. On Saturday May 9th from 9am – 12:30pm, the final bidding/auction of these items will commence at Java.net Gifts and Books on Highway 19. Route 66 Fudge Shop will also be selling special Mother’s Day treats during the auction- Yummy! 100% of the proceeds will go toward mural maintenance and the city beautification projects of Viva Cuba. Viva Cuba's Chair-itable Auction May 10th!!!

My hand painted chair will be featured along with several other regional artist’s creations benefiting the Viva Cuba Chair-itable Auction! “Something to Crow About” is currently on display at Peoples Bank of Cuba’s Highway 19 location in my beloved hometown of Cuba, Missouri until May 10th. It will be displayed at the Cuba Chamber of Commerce Banquet for an evening of great food, people, and coming together for the benefit of our great city of Cuba, Missouri, historic stop along the legendary Route 66 on April 25th.

Join me at Cuba Wal-Mart on May 10th from 9AM to 1 PM for the final bidding on these handcrafted creations, where Wal-Mart will match the donations up to $1,000.00 for Viva Cuba’s city beautification projects and maintenance of our nationally recognized city murals (see http://www.crawfordco.com/murals/ on the world-wide web).
